Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week at the girl’s school so it was time to make some bags! Teacher’s need bags, right? I did this last year and the teacher’s seemed to like them. I had three to make, they each like different colors and things so I made them each different. Deanna’s teacher likes green, Megan’s likes pink and I made one for Deanna and Kathryn’s speech teacher and she loves horses. I had fun making them and they were quick to make.
I went and bought more fabric at Wal-Mart (it’s all 50% off right now) to make more bags. I can whip out easy bags in an hour, if I add things to them, pockets, stripes, etc. it takes about two hours, but still, they are rather simple.
I picked up some books at the library to make even more bags: Hip Handbags: Creating & Embellishing 40 Great-Looking Bags and Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew
. They have patterns for bags and how to adjust them to make different kinds of bags from one or two patterns. One of the books has lots of other ideas in it so I plan to have fun! If I really like them, I will definitely add them to my bookshelf. I picked up the skirt book too to make some more skirts for the girls.
