So I am happy to post I have made my first sock! It is finished! And the sad part is…it’s just one! LOL! Deanna is here wearing it proudly! I hope to start the second one very soon! It honestly didn’t take too long to make, it’s just I had to put it down for awhile, but I got back on it and got it done. I was working hard on it while at ballet class or softball games and everywhere in between, but didn’t mess with it for awhile when I went back to school. Hopefully I can get cracking on the second one very soon!
I’m using German sock yarn I purchased at Knitting at the Lake 2010 and the book called Flusi which is a cute story about a mom always making three socks because one always gets eaten in the dryer. It’s German of course and went with the yarn so I had to have it. Trust me, I thought about it from Friday night to Sunday morning before purchasing it! I had to have it!
So here is a picture of the sock close up. When I first started making the sock, the pattern called for knitting the entire leg and the foot. Boring! So I started putting a pattern in it by knitting so many and purling for two stitches and then moved over two stitches when the color changed. Well then after speaking with my good friend Allena, I realized I was knitting the sock inside out so the pattern looks different on the leg than on the foot! For the second sock, I’m going to perfect the pattern and actually write it down and hopefully have people test it so I could possibly sell it. What do you think?
Hopefully I can get the sock done before the end of summer. If so, then I can make the other kids socks and everyone will have a pair by Christmas! (At least that’s the goal!)
